Legacy of hope

Canadian Jewish Congress Charities Committee CEO Bernie Farber attended the Holocaust remembrance commemoration in Windsor Sunday, addressing an audience at the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue.

He talked about growing up as a child of a Holocaust survivor, and said he wanted to spread the message of hope and tolerance.

“I felt that there was a special legacy eft to me,” Farber said before the event. “And that was ensuring that people’s human dignity is maintained. I think it’s important that … the lessons of evil of anti-Semitism be used to teach about (racism) and the need to overcome it.”
